swinburne open day billboard 2023

To advertise Swinburne’s Open Day 2023, I had the opportunity to write a headline for Bianca-Jaye, a speaker at the event. She’s a student who invented an in-ear device that prevents children with autism experiencing sensory overload in our noisy world.

The challenge was to explain the device in as few words as possible; hence, 'chaos calming earbuds'.

The Billboard was featured in some of Melbourne's most iconic spots like Flinder's Street Station and the Bourke Street Mall.

sWINBUrne direct posters

These poster advertisements were targeted at direct (non-VTAC) applicants. The challenge was to work with the existing campaign language ‘for those who want to stop feeling undervalued/pretending to be happy/dreaming small’ and subvert it to empower the audience.

I played with the ‘for those who want to ‘ contrasting it with a crossed out ‘for those who won’t’. And used ‘start’ and ‘stop’ lines which fit the context of the busy road/traffic e.g. ‘start moving’, ‘stop feeling stuck’.

Collaborative commerce newsletter

To promote Syncio Marketplace (a platform where online stores can connect and share inventory) we started the Collaborative Commerce newsletter. It’s all about how and why stores should collaborate.

I wrote a mix of ‘meet your market’ editions with short bios of different stores, and timely news editions that address what merchants actually want to know (like how US tariffs will affect them, how they should prepare for Black Friday, and data behind sales patterns).

Collaborative

‘Shoppers are savvy about greenwashing. They don’t expect perfection but they do expect honesty and accountability. They want transparency about every step of the process that brought a parcel to their front door.’

‘If you’ve just returned from a gap year, you may find yourself still dreaming of the cobbled streets of Paris or the lively markets of Marrakesh… while staring down the barrel of another PTV train ride.’

How to start a sustainable
e-commerce brand in 2026

The intention of the blog is to provide educational articles for online stores with a subtle tie to Syncio, rather than a hard sell. This post follows the rising consumer trend of values-based purchasing, and explores whether there is such thing as a truly sustainable e-commerce brand.
